Can a transient student attend two colleges ?

For example I attend a junior college and plan on transferring to the university in town next spring, in the fall there will be a couple courses that will be considered electives once I transfer. Is it possible I could take 10 hours at my home institution and 3 hours at the university as a transient, or would I need to go to one or the other for financial aid purposes ?
